Dr. Nicole Currie received both her degrees from the University of Colorado. She then made Nashville her home after completing an advanced dental education residency through the University of Tennessee. She’s loved becoming a member of the Nashville community and immersing herself in all the culture that Tennessee has to offer.
As a provider, Dr. Currie is passionate about preventive dentistry and empowering patients to take control of their oral health. She believes in a collaborative approach, where joint decision-making with her patients leads to personalized treatment plans and confident smiles.
In her free time, you can catch Dr. Currie cheering on the CU Buffaloes, listening to live music, or hiking the nearby Smokey Mountains.
"Dr. Merwin Scruggs received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from The University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Scruggs is a general dentist that focuses on patient education and long-term success of dental treatment. He enjoys working with patients and listening to them to see how he can best help them.
Dr. Scruggs says “My favorite part of dentistry is talking with patients and understanding how their lives can be impacted by my profession. I love that I can build a lasting relationship with them and provide them with comfortable, lasting dental care."
When Dr. Scruggs is not treating patients, he enjoys hiking, grilling, and traveling with his wife and daughter."
Daphne is our Chief Operating Officer. She has been with Rivergate Dental for 25 years. During that time she has formed many great and valuable relationships with patients and colleagues alike. She takes great satisfaction with giving the patient the best experience they can have from the time they arrive until they depart from the office.
She and her husband are avid music collectors with over 2,000 vinyl records in their collection. She also enjoys traveling & singing and writing songs in her spare time.
Ericka is an Expanded Function Dental Assistant. She started her career in dentistry in 1993 and joined our team in 2021. Along with her Expanded Functions license, she has 20 years of experience in cosmetic and implant dentistry, IV and oral sedation, and dentures. Her goal is to build and maintain patient relationships by providing them with a comfortable, positive visit.
Ericka and her husband love spoiling their grandson and outside of work she enjoys quilting, cooking, and working in her flower garden.
Amanda is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She has been in practice for 15 years, since graduating with high honors and receiving her degree in Dental Hygiene of Allied Health Sciences. Considering herself to be a true dental nerd, she is always eager to take continuing education courses to stay current in her practice and provide quality, evidence-based care.
Of particular interest to her is dietary impact on oral health. As a patient advocate, she helps her patients to understand the state of their oral health, how it correlates to their whole-body health or disease and how they can modify their daily practices to achieve optimum oral health and an aesthetic smile.
Outside of work you may find her enjoying the outdoors, cycling, practicing yoga, strength training, reading or listening to podcasts on health and wellness, all things biology, and a little true-crime as well. Her favorite of all, is any activity that involves quality time with her husband and children.
Not only does Amanda hope her patients leave feeling clean, but also empowered with knowledge and tips for maintaining or improving their oral and overall health. She is truly thankful for having found a great team to work with everyday that have the same priorities at heart, to ensure our patients receive the absolute best care and support possible.
Chelsea has been in the dental field for over 4 years and is the mother of three. In her spare time she loves to spend time with close friends and family.
Hannah is our Check Out Coordinator. She is from Robertson County and graduated from the Dental Staff School of Tennessee in 2018. Shortly after, she gave birth to her beautiful daughter who is now four years old and truly the highlight of her life. During her free time, she enjoys being on the lake, making memories with her little girl, and spending time with her family.
In July 2022, she decided it was time to start her career. Soon after she accepted an insurance coordinator position at Rivergate Dental, leaving her previous job of 7 years. Since starting, she has learned and grown so much and recently accepted a check out coordinator position. She loves being in the dental field, meeting new patients, and playing just a small role in helping our patients love their smile again.
